1. He already had a girlfriend

“My parents found a match on a matrimonial site and connected with the prospective groom’s family. After both the families interacted, they asked us to exchange phone numbers. He seemd like a good person and we chatted for around 15 days. All was going well but one day, he suddenly vanished and stopped replying to my messages. Later, his father called to apologise saying they never knew he already had a girlfriend and now wants to marry her.”

2. When I asked him to be punctual

“I was talking to a prospective groom for a month and he never turned up on time whenever we used to meet. In fact, it was our fifth meeting and he came 50 minutes late. When we were planning another meeting, I politely asked him to reach the venue on time and explained how it would help me to manage my schedule better. Shockingly, he scolded me saying I was being rude and blatantly lied about being punctual whenever we met. The next day, he messaged me saying he cannot continue with this so-called relationship,” shares Mannika Pandey, 27

3. Because I have two sisters

“A prospective bride rejected me because I have two unmarried sisters and feared how ‘we’ will manage our finances after marriage. Interestingly, she was not earning and my sisters are professionally successful, and manage their own finances,” says Tushar Vashishth, 30

4. I wanted to study further

“I got rejected by a prospective groom’s family because I wanted to pursue an MBA degree after getting married. Even though I assured them I have enough savings and would sponsor my education, they believed I won’t be able to give their family enough time and would be financially dependent on them,” tells Snigdha Kapoor, 27

5. He had never dated anyone

“I confessed to the prospective groom that I had dated two people at different point of time in the past and have now moved on. He somehow felt ‘cheated’ and replied he just had one crush in his entire life. Next, he hung up the call because his friend was calling him and never got back in touch with me again,” shares Tuhina Desai, 28

6. I refused to pamper her

“When I asked the prospective bride about her expectations from the life partner, she told me she was looking for someone who could pamper her. She wanted her husband to gift her the latest smartphone every year and take her for an international trip every four months. I smartly told her she could buy anything she wants from her salary and I have no problem with it. She rolled her eyes and rejected me the next day,” tells Shwetank Gupta, 29

7. I asked for a house help!

“The guy’s family rejected me because I told them I do not enjoy cooking. Further, things worsened when I said I wouldn’t be able to manage all the household chores without the help of a maid because I work at the office for nine hours every day. I was not surprised when they stopped all communications with my parents after that,” says Shivangi Sinha, 29.
