24 players in Black Stars camp ahead of Wales friendly clash

The Black Stars intensified preparations for their international friendly against Wales and the 2026 FIFA World Cup with 24 players now in camp in Cardiff.

Ghana held another training session on Saturday at Dragon Park under the supervision of head coach Carlos Queiroz as preparations gathered momentum ahead of their final warm-up fixtures.

The squad received a significant boost with the arrival of Thomas Partey and Inaki Williams on Saturday morning. Both players joined their teammates in Cardiff and immediately participated in training.

Players involved in Saturday’s session included Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Anang, Solomon Agbasi, Paul Reverson, Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Marvin Senaya, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Prince Kwabena Adu, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Inaki Williams.

However, defenders Alex Djiku and Kojo Oppong Peprah, midfielder Augustine Boakye and forward Antoine Semenyo are yet to join the team in Wales.

Carlos Queiroz is expected to name Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup squad on June 1.

The Black Stars will face Wales in an international friendly at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2 at 18:45 GMT before rounding off their preparations against Jamaica on June 10.

Ghana, making their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

The four-time African champions will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23, and conclude their group-stage matches against Croatia on June 27.

The Black Stars will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since their historic quarter-final run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
