One person has been injured following a gas fire outbreak at Abanu in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region.

According to report, a gas leakage is believed to have led to an explosion and subsequent fire involving a gas cylinder in the two-bedroom self-contained house.

The Ghana National Fire Service personnel who were immediately called to the scene were able to contain the situation, preventing the fire from spreading to adjoining structures and avoiding what could have been a more devastating incident.

One occupant of the house sustained second-degree burns and was quickly rescued from the scene by emergency responders.

He was immediately rushed to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando, where he is receiving treatment.

Investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.

Residents in the area have since been urged to observe strict safety measures when using liquefied petroleum gas to avoid similar occurrences.
