Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has insisted that no side at the World Cup is flawless as he outlined his team’s approach ahead of their Round of 32 clash with Colombia in Kansas City.
The two nations meet at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday night in a knockout tie that promises high intensity, with Colombia entering the contest unbeaten after topping Group K.
Queiroz, the experienced Portuguese tactician, said Ghana will focus on their own strengths while looking to expose vulnerabilities in the South American side.
“What we have to do is to play our game and measure our strengths against the weak areas that Colombia might have,” the 73-year-old said.
“There are no perfect teams, so we will look to explore their weaknesses too. We have to be strong in our play and in our mentality. It is going to be a great game regardless of the result,” the former Iran and Egypt boss added.
Ghana go into the match with only one confirmed absentee, defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, who is ruled out of the encounter.
Kick-off is scheduled for 01:30 GMT.
The game marks a significant moment for Ghana, who are featuring in the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run in 2010.
