Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has urged his Black Stars teammates to maintain concentration and adopt a positive mentality as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Ghana, set to make their fifth appearance at the global tournament, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, with the team aiming to progress beyond the group stage after early exits in 2014 and 2022.

Ati-Zigi, speaking through Ghana Football Association media channels, emphasized that mental strength and unity will be key if the Black Stars are to compete effectively on the world stage.

He noted that maintaining belief during difficult phases of matches will be crucial, adding that a strong winning mentality and team spirit could prove decisive in tight encounters.

“They have to have a positive mindset because it gets to a point when things aren’t going well. I think that’s when we need this winning mentality and winning spirit,” the St. Gallen goalkeeper said.

“I think they just need this to help the team achieve better goals,” he added.

Ghana will begin their Group L campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
