Former Vice President of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has underscored the importance of Ghana’s long-standing relationship with the United Kingdom after holding discussions with the British High Commissioner to Ghana in Accra.
In a post shared on social media on Thursday, June 11, Dr. Bawumia described the engagement as productive, saying the discussions centred on the strong bilateral ties between both countries and prospects for deeper cooperation in the future.
He noted that the meeting reflected a shared commitment to advancing Ghana’s development agenda through strategic partnerships that deliver tangible results.
Dr. Bawumia also reflected on his time as co-chair of the UK-Ghana Business Council during his tenure as Vice President, explaining that the platform helped attract significant investments that supported major infrastructure projects across the country.
According to him, the council played a key role in strengthening economic relations and encouraging mutually beneficial investments between Ghana and the UK.
He further expressed appreciation to the British High Commissioner for acknowledging his approach to issue-based politics.
Dr. Bawumia said the High Commissioner commended his commitment to promoting policy-focused political discourse over personal attacks, describing it as a positive sign for the growth of Ghana’s democracy.
