Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ determination to make the nation proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage. The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Having suffered group-stage exits in their previous two appearances at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar, Ghana will be hoping for a stronger showing this time under experienced head coach Carlos Queiroz.
Speaking to Ghana Football Association media, Ati-Zigi praised Queiroz’s experience and tactical insight, noting his positive influence on the squad’s preparation ahead of the tournament.
“He’s a very experienced coach. He has a lot of information. We just have to take the good information he gives us and try to make use of it,” the St. Gallen shot-stopper said.
Ati-Zigi also emphasized the team’s unity and fighting spirit as they prepare to represent Ghana on the global stage.
“The expectation is teamwork. We’re going to fight to the end. We’re going to give it all, and we hope that we’ll make Ghanaians proud,” he added.
The Black Stars will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23, and wrapping up their Group L fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
With a tough group ahead, Ghana will rely on unity, discipline, and determination as they aim to improve on recent World Cup performances and make a strong impression in North America.
