Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has expressed strong confidence that head coach Carlos Queiroz will steer the Black Stars to a successful campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana are set to make their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia as they target a return to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010. Their recent preparations included a 1-1 draw with Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Speaking to DW TV, Asante Twum praised Queiroz’s experience and pedigree, stressing that the GFA fully backs the Portuguese tactician.

“In the business of football, there are divergent views, and Carlos Queiroz has coached some of the best talents that football can boast of,” he said.

“We are solidly behind him, and he has the impetus to take us to the World Cup and make our nation proud,” he added.

Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.

The four-time African champions will be hoping to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010, having exited at the same stage in both 2014 and 2022.
