Barring any last minute hitches, the chief and people of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region, biscuit and chocolate factories under government’s One District One Factory initiative.
Kofi Appiah Frimpong, the designated Chief Executive Officer for the factories, who spoke about the factories, has given the indication that the first stage of the project when completed will employ about 500 workers.
Mr Frimpong was speaking at a stakeholder meeting held at Wenchi, the Municipal’s capital, between investors and the District Implementation Committee of the 1D1F.
He revealed that an amount of $ 2.1 million dollars was expected to be invested into the construction of the factories.
The factory when constructed will produce chocolate, biscuits, drinks and honey jams for the local and international markets.
