The Minerals Commission has confirmed the revocation of mining leases held by Adamus Resources Limited in the Akango, Salman and Nkroful areas, citing multiple violations of Ghana’s mining laws.
According to the Director of Mineral Titles at the Commission, Frank Pedro Asare, the decision was based on extensive investigations supported by documentary and photographic evidence.
“Our investigations revealed several serious breaches by Adamus Resources Limited,” he stated.
Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, Ing. Asare stressed that the decision was neither arbitrary nor politically motivated, but grounded strictly in law and regulatory procedures.
“As a regulator, the decision is based on facts and investigations by the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission,” he explained.
He noted that under Ghana’s mining regulations, companies must obtain the necessary operating permits before undertaking any mining activity within a designated concession.
He added that expansion into new areas without prior approval constitutes a breach of the law.
“It is illegal if you mine on a different concession where you haven’t been approved to,” he emphasised.
He disclosed that inspections conducted by the Commission’s regional inspectorate team at the Adamus concessions revealed that some operations were being carried out on lands not linked to the company’s approved infrastructure and without the required authorisation.
Ing. Asare further indicated that representatives of the company, including the General Manager, were present during the inspection processes, dismissing claims that due process was not followed.
“If you say Adamus were not given a hearing, then you don’t have the facts. All the inspections, the General Manager was present,” he said.
He maintained that the breaches identified were statutory in nature, thereby justifying the Minister’s decision to revoke the leases.
The Commission reiterated that adherence to Ghana’s mining laws remains critical to ensuring responsible and sustainable resource exploitation.
