World Vision Ghana has entered into a partnership with the Asunafo North Municipal and Asutifi North District Assemblies to expand access to water, sanitation and hygiene services in rural communities across the two areas.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Goaso in the Ahafo Region.
Speaking to the media after the signing, Acting National Director of World Vision Ghana, Joshua Baidoo, said the provision of potable water, sanitation and hygiene services was primarily the responsibility of the assemblies, but they needed support from development partners to achieve universal coverage.
He explained that World Vision Ghana was therefore collaborating with the two assemblies to ensure that residents in rural communities gained access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation and hygiene practices.
Mr Baidoo said the partnership was aimed at contributing to better health outcomes and improving the living conditions of people in underserved communities.
The Coordinating Directors for Asutifi North and Asunafo North, Abdul Aziz Jafaru and Benjamin Owusu Afriyie, respectively, expressed appreciation to World Vision Ghana for the initiative.
They said the assemblies faced significant financial challenges in extending potable water services to all communities within their jurisdictions.
According to them, the partnership would complement the efforts of the assemblies and help bridge existing gaps in water, sanitation and hygiene services, particularly in rural areas.
They described the MoU as a timely intervention that would support efforts to improve public health and the wellbeing of residents in the two districts.
