Abena Ruthy

Gospel artiste, Abena Ruthy, who is vying for the position of 2nd Vice President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has said women should be given equal opportunities but must be ready to take up challenges.

According to her, although the role she is vying for is seen as high ranking and should be left to men, she is determined to make a difference.

“I’m not at all scared, in this age of equal opportunity no woman should be scared of taking up challenges. We all have brains and God-given abilities and in that lies our strength.

“So no position should cause any fear in any human being created in the image and likeness of God. Again, the outgoing administration reviewed the constitution and made this position a preserve for women and I am ready for anything that comes with it, ” she told Showbiz last week.

When asked how she intends to deal with the controversies that surrounds MUSIGA if she wins, she said, “institutions are bound to have issues so long as there are diverse stakeholders, even private institutions suffer the same.
