The National Teaching Council (NTC) has promised a fair process for qualified teachers who will sit for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.

Acting Executive Secretary of the NTC, Mr Christian Addai-Poku said it will be to their advantage if all the teachers who write the examination pass.

He made the comment on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Wednesday while reacting to concerns raised by some teachers who failed the examination.

They argued that the Council, in its bid to milk them off their meager salaries, fails them to pay for another registration fee.

But in a rebuttal, Mr Addai-Poku said such concerns raised by the teachers were misplaced.

He cited how 8, 089 out of the 12, 076 teachers who wrote the second teacher licensure examination in June passed to buttress his point.

The NTC boss said all they are seeking to do is to produce teachers “who are fit for purpose.”

His fear, he noted, is to prevent half-baked teachers from jeopardising the future of the children in the country.

Mr Addai-Poku commended the teacher unions who have accepted to write the exam to improve the teaching profession in the country.
