Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz says his focus is on seeing his team express themselves and deliver an entertaining performance when they face Wales in a pre-World Cup friendly scheduled for today.

The 73-year-old, appointed in April following the departure of Otto Addo, is leading the Black Stars for the first time as they step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Speaking to the media on Monday ahead of the match, the experienced tactician stressed the importance of confidence, commitment and attacking intent.

”We want to express ourselves in the game tomorrow,” he said.

“That is the best of our skills, efforts, and commitment. As I said, the message is simple. We want to play great football. We want to win. We want to bring pride and happiness to the fans.”

Ghana have been in camp in Wales since May 25 as part of their early build-up to the tournament. Twenty-four players initially reported for duty, with Spain-based duo Thomas Partey and Iñaki Williams joining the squad on Saturday, May 30.

However, Augustine Boakye and Kojo Oppong Peprah, both based in France, were yet to arrive in camp as of Monday due to club commitments in the Ligue 1 play-offs involving AS Saint-Étienne and OGC Nice.

Despite the incomplete squad, Queiroz remains confident his team will deliver a strong performance.

”That’s the only thing that should be in all players’ minds. And the message is a message of hope and confidence. Being with them for so many months, the training sessions that I did with them, we are fully committed to delivering to the nation.”

Kick-off for the match is set for 18:45 GMT.

After the Wales fixture, Ghana will continue their preparations with a friendly against Jamaica on June 10 before turning their attention fully to the World Cup.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. They open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
