The Member of Parliament for Bulsa south, Clement Apaak has called on the government to be accountable to Ghanaians.
Speaking on Starr FM’s morning show, he expressed his displeasure about the 21-member delegation that went with the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, on the 2017 United Nations Trade and Development Conference in Geneva.

The Foreign Affairs Committee member in parliament said the ruling party was a government that vowed to protect the public purse but has invested so much money into just one travel yet has failed to give accounts of the outcomes of those travels.
“It is obvious they cannot be serious about protecting the public purse as they say; it is about time Ghanaians become concerned and ask for the value of our monies and be able to hold the government accountable, more especially in such difficult times of our nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Vice President and an Economic Advisor, Gideon Boaku dismissed the statements saying, the delegates were 16 and not 21 because members of the delegation such as the security detail, photographer, ADC, video cameraman and the protocol cannot be considered as participants at the meeting.
According to him, they had investor-engagements with Switzerland and Mauritius who they are hopeful will do something for the country.
