The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has condemned the gruesome murder of Major Maxwell Mahama by some residents of Denkyira Boasi in the Central Region.

Captain Maxwell Mahama, an officer of the 5th Infantry Battalion, was said to have been on his daily jogging routine on Monday [May 29], when some angry youth of the town attacked him, allegedly on suspicion of being an armed robber.

He was beaten to death, with part of his body burnt.

The family of the late military captain has announced that his burial will take place on Friday, June 9, 2017

Commenting on the murder on Adom TV’s Badwam Tuesday, Kennedy Agyapong said the Major not ought to have done in that manner as he was never a criminal.

“He ought not to have done that way…he didn’t deserve that treatment because he was not a criminal…even if you supposed he was an armed robber, the best thing to have done was to send him to the Police station…you can’t take the laws into your own, I have not been able to watch the video…,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians to forgive the people of Denkyira Boasi for the act adding that the time was apt for all to desist from mob action and lynching of people.

  1. As bad as it is , others are being killed same way daily in other places in Ghana today but nothing has happen because the others are not in uniform. what are the police doing. until a person in uniform is killed before they act ? The police release thieves into the system because the lawyers takes money and defend them , while there is clear evidence to put them away for 20 years they go in for ONLY 3 months. If they start to lock thieves up this sad killings will stop. Major Mahama may your soul rest in peace .
