Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Boakye, popularly known as Kofi B, says his fellow act, Ofori Amponsah established his church out of frustration.

According to him, Ofori Amponsah was only mocking God because he knew he wasn’t ordained to be a man of God.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Drive Time show Ofie Kwanso with host Jerry Justice, Kofi B said the “Otoolege” singer was only extorting monies from the church members.

“I laughed when he said he had become a pastor. He was after their offertories and tithes. I met one of his members and dared him that if the church lasted for more than a year, he should come for money,” he told show host, Jerry.

Ofori Amponsah announced somewhere in February 2012 that he had become a man of God with his own congregation.

He was largely regarded as a minister of the gospel and granted media interviews as such.

Indeed, he vowed not to do secular music and even went ahead to warn radio stations not to play his songs which, in his opinion, will take people to hell.

But he made a sharp U-turn later, turning his back on all he claimed he stood for.

He later rendered an unqualified apology to people he said were misled by his actions in a media interview.

He confessed that he was not ordained a pastor but sought solace in the work of God due to frustrations arising from his failed musical career.

“I was not a pastor because I was never ordained; I just believed in God and decided to do his work”, he told Deloris Frimpong Manso.
