Highlife musician Afriyie Wutah has urged musicians and music lovers to shift their attention from unnecessary industry beefs and give more support to the music being released.
His comments come at a time when social media conversations around disagreements between top artistes, particularly the ongoing Sarkodie-Stonebwoy drama, have dominated discussions within Ghana’s music space.
According to Afriyie Wutah, the constant focus on who said what, who responded and who insulted whom is gradually overshadowing the actual music.
He believes artistes who release new songs deserve the same energy and attention that fans readily give to celebrity disputes and online exchanges.
“Unnecessary beefs between musicians are taking attention from the good songs other musicians are releasing,” he said in a Facebook post.
Afriyie Wutah noted that fans can spend hours debating an artiste’s comments or taking sides in a feud, while paying little attention to songs that could otherwise gain traction through streams and engagements.
He is therefore encouraging fans to spend more time promoting songs rather than allowing artiste disagreements to dominate their timelines.
