Ghana’s Black Maidens will begin their quest for qualification to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup when they host Liberia in the first leg of their qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

The Maidens progressed to this stage after a convincing victory over Togo in the previous round and will be aiming to build a solid advantage on home soil before the return leg in Monrovia next week.

Head coach Joe Nana Adarkwah has overseen preparations at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where the squad has reportedly shown encouraging form in training throughout the week.

Adarkwah has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of the decisive encounter.

A positive result at home is seen as vital for Ghana as they seek to strengthen their chances of advancing further in the qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with the winner over two legs progressing to the next round of qualifiers.
