The Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has declared its full and unequivocal support for the ongoing complementary strike action by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
In a statement signed by TUSAAG National President, Stanley Akamiri Abopaam dated August 9, 2026, TUSAAG said the grievances that prompted GAUA’s industrial action are similar to concerns it has raised during negotiations over conditions of service and pay disparities.
According to TUSAAG, the two associations jointly submitted a conditions of service proposal for negotiation, but the proposal was rejected on grounds of what the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) described as transitional limitations.
An interim allowance was subsequently negotiated in place of the proposed conditions of service agreement.
However, TUSAAG said it, like GAUA, has observed persistent disparities in remuneration, describing the issue as one that directly affects its members.
“This is not a distant cause. It is our cause,” the association stated.
TUSAAG said it understands GAUA’s decision to withdraw its services, particularly because both associations participated in the same negotiations and continue to experience what it described as unequal treatment.
The association stressed that strike action is not taken lightly but usually follows prolonged concerns, stalled negotiations and a situation where members’ interests can no longer be adequately protected through dialogue.
It therefore reaffirmed that it would stand with GAUA and its leadership throughout the industrial action.
TUSAAG said it regards GAUA’s demands as inseparable from its own concerns and would not remain on the sidelines of the dispute.
The association called on relevant authorities and stakeholders to engage GAUA with urgency and sincerity to resolve the pay disparities and other issues at the heart of the industrial action.
It also pledged to monitor developments closely and provide any additional support necessary to secure what it described as a fair resolution.
TUSAAG commended GAUA’s leadership for its resolve in defending the interests of its members and urged stakeholders in the tertiary education sector to support a swift and equitable settlement of the dispute.
“Solidarity forever!” the statement added.
