The Managing Director of Justmoh Construction Limited, Dr. Justice Amoh, has announced that the 23-kilometer Takoradi–Agona Nkwanta road will open to traffic in November 2026, following the accelerated completion of its rehabilitation and dualization.
He made this announcement during an inspection of the project by the Minister of Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, on Wednesday, September 16.
Dr. Amoh revealed that the contractor had mobilized significant resources to speed up construction and expressed confidence that the road would be ready four months ahead of the original contractual completion date of March 19, 2027.
“We can assure you that by the end of November, we are going to hand over. All the materials for the furnishing have been cleared from the port, and they are here,” he said.
The project—which involves dualizing the existing 23-kilometer single carriageway and constructing four major concrete bridges, including dual-carriageway bridges at Apremdo and Ewusiejoe—previously suffered an almost two-year delay due to funding and payment challenges.
However, construction accelerated significantly after the government released $78 million in outstanding payments, allowing the contractor to intensify work and deploy additional resources.
Once completed and opened to traffic, the upgraded road is expected to improve connectivity and ease movement along the Takoradi–Agona Junction corridor.
Dr. Amoh noted that while the team is currently focused on completing road safety measures, axle-load violations remain a key concern.
“We are here to start with the road protection, the guardrails, and the road line markings. Our major challenge is the axle load. And while you are here, we plead with you to take a critical look at it and help us resolve it,” he added.
