Swizz Beatz did not mind how up close and personal his wife, Alicia Keys, got with Usher during the latter’s star-studded Super Bowl 2024 halftime performance.

“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing,” Beatz, 45, wrote on Instagram after several viewers commented on how Usher, 45, hugged Keys, 43, from behind during the Las Vegas set.

“Yall don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium,” the rapper continued. “Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants!”

“Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic,” the record producer added, referring to the pair’s “My Boo” duet.

“We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history,” Beatz, born Kasseem Daoud Dean, concluded. He also went on to plug the art exhibit he shares with Keys at the Brooklyn Museum.

Several of Beatz’s social media followers joined the DJ in slamming those who thought Keys was getting a little too cozy with the “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love Again” singer.

“Ppl don’t know what a performance is anymore. Bruh, smh everything is a joke,” one angry user wrote. “That was the best Super Bowl performance since Michael Jackson but no one speaking about that smh.”

“It’s no different from when u see actors on screen,” a second person explained. “It’s just a performance. It was strategic and it worked, clearly. Lol, the internet running wild with it.”

“This performance was epic and will go down in history as one of the best of not the best halftime show ever,” gushed a third person.

The “Girl on Fire” songstress, who married Beatz in 2010, was the first of many special guests at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.

They were also joined by Jermaine Dupri, who helped Usher commemorate the 20th anniversary of his hit studio album “Confessions.” H.E.R. joined the group to play a bit of 2004’s “Bad Girl” and Will.i.am surprised the crowd with 2010’s “OMG.”

The “Caught Up” crooner culminated his 13-minute performance by bringing pals Lil Jon and Ludacris out for a rousing finale of their hit “Yeah!”

Days before his big show, Usher took a break from rehearsals to open up about the career highlight in an exclusive interview with The Post.

“You know, this has been an amazing year ramping up to this,” he said of his “My Way” Las Vegas residency that finished at the Dolby Live-Park MGM in December after 17 months and 100 shows.

Usher closed out the halftime show with Lil Jon and Ludacris joining him for an electrifying performance of their 2001 single “Yeah!.”

In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Usher revealed the performance was dedicated to all the Black artists who have inspired him

“I think about what our country has kind of represented for Black artists,” he said around the 1-minute mark. “Having to, at some point, go through kitchens to even be able to perform for an audience.”

“They have to leave back through that same door, fear for their lives, as they went to the next state to do the same thing. So I’m coming through the front door with this one.”

He continued, “I didn’t start where I am now, and I didn’t get there by myself. So, everybody that has been a part of it, I’m carrying them with me. All of my fans, my loved ones — the people who may have felt like they have been forgotten, they haven’t. I’m carrying you right with me when I walk on that stage that night.”

How we were contracted to perform at the Global Citizen Festival with Usher – DWP’s Afrobeast narrates it all [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/how-we-were-contracted-to-perform-at-the-global-citizen-festival-with-usher-dwps-afrobeast-narrates-it-all-video/ Thu, 29 Sep 2022 10:59:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2167077 Over the weekend, all roads led to the Black Star Square in Accra, where the Global Citizen Festival was held for the first time in Ghana.

The show saw a host of artistes both from home soil as well as the diaspora come together to serve patrons with electrifying performances as well as raise funds to end extreme poverty.

One of the major highlights of the show was the performance from award-winning American RnB singer Usher, and Ghanaian dance group DWP Academy.

One of the leaders of the group, Afrobeast has narrated how they were contracted to share the stage with one of the world’s biggest musicians.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Afrobeast narrated that he was contacted by one of Usher’s choreographers.

According to him, Usher and his team wanted to connect with the crowd using Afrobeats’ dance moves like the ones DWP displays in their videos on social media.

“I got a DM (direct message) from one of Usher’s choreographers, and she said they have followed our works and wanted to connect with the local talents.

“She said that Usher had a show in Ghana and they wanted us (DWP) to incorporate the afrobeats style with his sound and rhythm. So we accepted it and we did it.”

Afrobeast, who choreographed the performance with Usher, went ahead to give credit to his other group members who all contributed to making their performance a success.

“Since my specialty is choreographing for people I accepted to do it but I had help from my group (DWP) and we did this together,” he said.

Dance with Purpose (DWP) is a dance school located at the Lizzy Sports Complex at East Legon.

The group dedicates three sessions each week to coaching young talented dancers of different ages with diverse backgrounds in various moves of African beats and rhythms to become top-class dancers.

The group has featured in numerous top-class music videos including Beyoncé’s Already which features Ghana’s Dancehall King Shatta Wale.

Usher got me battling depression for four years – T-Pain reveals [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/usher-got-me-battling-depression-for-four-years-t-pain-reveals-video/ Wed, 23 Jun 2021 17:24:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1977501 T-Pain is opening up about his four-year battle with depression.

In a clip from Netflix’s series, This Is Pop, the rapper reveals the dark side of his musical success that included the infamous introduction of auto-tune to mainstream music.

Although the pitch correction technique has been around for ages and using it helped propel T-Pain to superstardom, the rapper claims it led to a confrontation with Usher, who allegedly told him that he “f**ked up music.”

“Usher was my friend. I really respect Usher. And he said, ‘I’m gonna tell you something, man. You kinda f**ked up music,’” T-Pain claims in the clip released by Entertainment Weekly on Monday

The rapper — who also explains that the alleged conversation occurred during a plane ride — says he thought Usher was joking at first, so he laughed. But, according to T-Pain, Usher allegedly doubled down on his comment and said that the rapper “really f**ked up music for real singers.”

“That is the very moment, and I don’t even think I realized this for a long time, but that’s the very moment that started a four-year depression for me,” T-Pain shares.

The rapper’s use of auto-tune, which sparked a plethora of artists following his example, was quickly met with a wave of backlash. In 2009, JAY-Z even recorded an entire diss track attacking the pitch correction titled “DOA (Death of Auto-Tune).”

The backlash was so fierce that people seemed to forget that T-Pain was a genuinely talented musician and producer, a fact the rapper has spoken about many times before. During his Tiny Desk Concert for NPR, during which he sang entirely without the processor, the rapper joked that the auto-tune was “surgically inserted.”

Since then, the rapper has gone on to win the first season of The Masked Singerrelease a new album and co-write a cocktail book

This Is Pop is an eight-part series exploring untold stories from some of the biggest moments in pop music history. In addition to T-Pain, it features interviews with ABBA’s Benny Andersson, Shania Twain, Brandi Carlile, Chuck D, Babyface, Orville Peck, Hozier, members of Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, Blur, and many more.
