Efia Odo

Actress and socialite, Efia Odo, has asked Ghanaians overseas to stop complaining about hardships if they are not willing to return to Ghana.

She stated, “I never understand why some Ghanaians abroad are always complaining about the hardships they’re facing. Come back to Ghana if Europe or America is difficult. Like shut up! You know damn well you’d rather be there than in Ghana.”

The comment has struck a chord with Ghanaians living abroad who have been vocal about the challenges they face in foreign lands.

While many replied with humour, they explained that, their decision to move abroad is for better opportunities and a chance to improve their lives.

Efia Odo’s statement shed light on the complexities of life abroad versus life in one’s home country.

Ghanaians abroad encounter challenges like adapting to new cultures, immigration issues, and the financial responsibility of sending remittances to support family members back home.

However, they benefit from better economic opportunities and more robust social services in their adopted countries.

Based on this backdrop, Efia Odo has asked them to “shut up” because they know they are in a better country than Ghana.
