Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has opened up about his long-running relationship with fellow musician Stonebwoy, claiming the two were once close before their careers took different paths.

Speaking in snippets of an interview shared from the Honest Bunch Podcast on social media, Shatta Wale said Stonebwoy used to visit him regularly before rising to fame.

“Stonebwoy is my boy. He used to be with me. He used to come to where I rented my first room. He used to call me Daddy,” Shatta Wale said.

According to him, their relationship changed after Stonebwoy began receiving widespread attention in the media, with people allegedly comparing the two artistes and telling Stonebwoy he was more talented.

He claimed such comments influenced Stonebwoy’s attitude towards him.

Shatta Wale, however, insisted he has no personal grudge against his fellow dancehall artiste but believes Stonebwoy is uncomfortable around him.

“I’m cool with Stonebwoy, but he can’t watch me. He can’t look me in the face; he will fall down. My spirit is too big for him,” he stated.

The award-winning musician described himself as someone who is confident and authentic, contrasting his personality with what he believes to be Stonebwoy’s.

“I’m too confident. I’m not the fake type, but with the things he says, he doesn’t follow them. I follow the things I say. He knows me well,” he said.

“Sometimes when I see Stonebwoy, I feel bad,” he added.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have had one of the most publicised rivalries in Ghana’s music industry over the years, with their relationship marked by repeated exchanges, reconciliations and renewed tensions. The latest comments are likely to reignite discussions among fans about the longstanding feud between the two dancehall stars.
