Iain Walker with the staff of Sama Sama in Tamale

The British High Commissioner, Iain Walker, has started his 1,000km ride on a bicycle to raise funds in support of plastic surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The 10-day ride, dubbed the ‘Ghana Grand Tour’, started this week.

Describing it as “challenging”, the High Commissioner within minutes of touching down in Tamale, where he started his tour, visited a project site called Sama Sama. This is a project founded by a Brit-Ghanaian.

He told Joy News’ Kojo Yankson at the end of his visit that the innovation had been a success. The project has benefitted from funding from Global Affairs Canada.

Their Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Taylor, travelled from Canada to be with the envoy.
