Hohoe United FC have been ordered by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association to refund the GH¢1 million paid to the club before the start of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The decision follows the club’s announcement on April 1 to withdraw from the ongoing campaign, citing what it described as systemic unfairness.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, May 1, 2026, the committee directed Hohoe United to repay the full amount disbursed ahead of the season.

Beyond the financial sanction, the club has also been handed a three-season suspension from all GFA-organised competitions, ruling them out of national football activities for the duration of the ban.

The committee further stated that the suspension does not relieve Hohoe United of any outstanding financial obligations owed to the GFA or its affiliates.

The verdict carries significant consequences for the club, with its sporting future now uncertain. The suspension is also expected to disrupt squad stability, as players may look elsewhere for regular football during the ban.

Hohoe United, however, still have the right to appeal the ruling within the stipulated period.
