Queens Park Rangers head coach Julien Stephan says it is too early to know the extent of Tariq Lamptey’s latest injury after the Ghana defender was forced off during the club’s Championship draw with Charlton Athletic.
Lamptey was substituted in the 35th minute of Tuesday’s goalless draw at The Valley, with QPR also losing defender Jimmy Dunne to injury in a frustrating evening that left them fourth in the table.
The setback raises doubts over Lamptey’s availability for Saturday’s home clash against West Bromwich Albion, while also casting uncertainty over his potential involvement in Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Stephan admitted he faces an anxious wait before knowing how serious the injuries are.
“Now we have to find a way to present a competitive team on Saturday. I will reflect on that,” he said.
“It’s difficult for me to give you more information about them because we have to assess them, but it doesn’t present very well.”
Lamptey joined QPR as a free agent ahead of the season and has made an encouraging start to life at Loftus Road.
The 25-year-old has provided one assist in five Championship appearances and had been in contention for a return to Ghana’s squad before his latest injury concern.
