The pregnant News Editor of Obaatanpa Radio has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment following the attack on the station’s premises in Kasoa.

The journalist was rushed to the hospital after reportedly suffering severe shock during the incident, which raised fears that she could lose her pregnancy.

Speaking in an interview, the Head of News Production at Obaatanpa Radio, Nana Yaw Yeboah Asiama, confirmed that the news editor has been discharged and is currently recovering.

He expressed optimism that the traumatic incident would not have any adverse effect on her pregnancy and appealed to staff to remain calm as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police Command has deployed police officers to the station to provide security and prevent any further attacks.

The latest development follows an incident in which management of Obaatanpa Radio alleged that the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Serwonoo Banini, the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, and some other individuals stormed the station.

In a statement issued on Thursday, management said the incident was triggered by discussions on the station’s morning show concerning internal matters of the NDC.

According to the station, the group allegedly assaulted the morning show host and producer both verbally and physically after entering the premises.

Management further claimed that the individuals forced their way into the studio during a live broadcast, switched off the station’s transmission, ordered staff to leave the premises and locked up the facility.

The station said the incident disrupted its operations and raised serious concerns about the safety and security of media practitioners in the country.
