The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Asiedu, says he has filed a lawsuit against Obaatanpa Radio at the High Court.

The move comes in the wake of what he describes as persistent false reportage aimed at destabilising the party in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

Mr Asiedu confirmed this in an interview on Adom FM’s Midday News, following reports that he stormed the station with other officials on Thursday to lock it up and sack staff.

“We just wanted to seek an audience with them because this issue had been ongoing for over two weeks. But for their hostile attitude, nothing would have gone wrong,” he said.

He stated that the station had been peddling false reports about internal wrangling between the Awutu Senya East MP, Phyllis Naa Koryoo, and the NDC constituency chairman, Stephen Agyare, which prompted his action.

He revealed that the legal processes were completed on Wednesday and that the station would soon be served with the writ.

“I have sued the station at the High Court because they are trying to disorganise the NDC in the constituency. We completed the processes yesterday, and they will be served in due course,” Mr Asiedu stated.

He vowed not to sit idle while a radio station tarnishes the image of the party in the Central Region.
