A poultry farmer at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region has appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other government agencies for assistance after devastating floods wiped out nearly his entire flock following Monday’s heavy rains.

The farmer said torrential rainfall caused severe flooding on his farm, killing almost all of his chickens and leaving only one bird alive.

According to him, the disaster has dealt a significant financial blow to his poultry business, destroying years of investment and threatening his livelihood.

Speaking after the incident in a social media video, the distraught farmer called on NADMO and other relevant state institutions to come to his aid.

“I have lost almost all my birds. Only one survived the flooding. I am appealing to the government and NADMO to support me so I can recover from this disaster,” he said.

The incident occurred as heavy rains battered parts of Greater Accra on Monday, triggering widespread flooding that claimed lives, displaced residents and destroyed homes, businesses and other properties.
