A 26-year-old man identified as Bismark Kobby who allegedly raped a 23-year-old banana seller in a cemetery has been fined.
He was fined six schnapps and 3 sheep by the traditional rulers of Agona Fawomanye in the Agona East District in the Central Region.

Bismark was allegedly caught by one Kofi Binny who is also a Unit Committee Member in the community, sleeping with the lady.
He was subsequently dragged to the Agona Kwanyarko police station for questioning.
Local reports say Bismark told the lady in question to follow him to the bush where he and his friends were working as by-day workers so they could buy some of her bananas.
On getting to the cemetery, however, he wanted to forcibly have carnal knowledge of her threatening to kill her if she resisted.

It is not clear if the police have decided to stop the pursuit of criminal prosecution but the Chief of Agona Fawomanye, Nana Sekyi Ansah (IV), said Nananom of Fawomanye have met with the family of the suspect, to ask that they provide some items for purification.
“We have asked them to provide 3 Sheep and 6 bottles of Schnapps for us to perform rituals at the cemetery and the forest so that his family can have peace but if they refuse, the entire community and family will face serious calamities,” he said.
