Five people were on Saturday confirmed dead in a fatal accident at Gomoa Odumasi on the Winneba Cape Coast highway. About 22 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The fatal accident occurred due to a head on collision between a cargo car with the registration number WR 211-W and a Sprinter with registration number GT4913-19 W.

In an interview with Adom News, a witness said the Sprinter was travelling from Accra to Takoradi.
“The sprinter driver wrongfully overtook other vehicles ahead of him and collided with the Cargo car which was travelling in the opposite direction killing five people on the spot including a three-year-old boy,” he narrated.

The Winneba Fire Service Assistant Station Officer, Akumey Elorm also in an interview said some people were stuck in the car and it took hours to rescue them. The injured were sent to the Apam Catholic Hospital.
