Much optimism and enthusiasm was the spirit of Rotarians who hit the streets Saturday morning in aid of disabled children.

The goal was to take as many steps as possible to raise GHC 20,000 for the underprivileged and disabled children lacking basic needs.

Neglecting their comfortable beds, they showed up in their numbers, both children and adults as early as 6 am ready to go the mile for the course.

An ambulance and scintillating music aided a much tedious walk from the Barclays clubhouse in Kanda through to Osu and back to some refreshments.

Not only members participated but family members and other well-wishers who desired for the disabled to have a comfortable life joined in.

The proceeds from the walk will be given to disabled children and underprivileged children in orphanages to cater for their feeding and other basic needs.

Inching towards 60 years in Ghana, Rotary has undertaken so many projects in a bid to create lasting changes in various areas.

President of the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, Dr. Dennis Addo says another major project to be undertaken by the club will be collaborating with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to keep Accra clean.

The club will provide over 100 bins for the capital and maintain waste for a whole year under the theme “keep Accra clean”.

The project will cost about GHC 30.000 cedis which will be solely funded by the club.

The club has over the years undertaken some key projects including the refurbishment of the male wards at the Maamobi Polyclinic, construction of the Asempaneye Basic School in the Eastern Region, a USD 50,000 telehealth project in the Jirapa district of the Upper West Region in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Windsor and water and sanitation projects in Supreso and Tinkong.
