Parliament has ratified bilateral Air Services Agreements between Ghana and six countries: Benin, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius, Guyana, Luxembourg and Qatar, to strengthen international air transport cooperation and improve connectivity.

The agreements establish a comprehensive framework to regulate and promote air services between Ghana and the partner countries while ensuring fair, balanced and transparent operations.

Under the agreements, designated airlines from both Ghana and the respective countries will be permitted to operate agreed air services, with the framework safeguarding the sovereign rights of all parties involved.

The agreements also include provisions for dispute resolution, compliance with the domestic laws of each country, and measures to protect the financial sustainability of international air transport operations.

Lawmakers noted that the agreements are expected to enhance Ghana’s aviation sector by improving passenger and cargo movement, while creating new opportunities for trade, tourism, investment and broader economic cooperation with the six partner countries.

The ratification forms part of Ghana’s efforts to expand its international aviation network and strengthen bilateral relations through increased air connectivity.
