Residents of the Western North Region are set to benefit from a new regional hospital as part of the government’s healthcare infrastructure expansion programme.

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, announced the development during the Free Primary Healthcare tour of the Western North Region.

According to the Minister, the Western North Region is among the first three newly created regions selected to receive a regional hospital under the 2026 Budget.

He explained that the project forms part of government’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services and strengthen the country’s health infrastructure.

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh also appealed to traditional authorities in the region to ensure that land allocated for the project is properly documented to prevent future ownership disputes that could delay construction.

Responding to the appeal, the Acting Sefwi Wiawso Paramount Chief, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, assured the government that the traditional council is fully prepared to provide suitable land for the project.

He further pledged that the land would be properly secured and documented to facilitate the smooth implementation of the hospital project.

The proposed regional hospital is expected to significantly improve access to specialist and quality healthcare services for residents of the Western North Region while reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for medical care.
