Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), James Klutse Avedzi, has caused the arrest of the former and current officers of the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly in the Western region.

The two, former District Finance Officer for Sefwi Akontombra Assembly, Isaac Akowuah and the current officer, James Esilfie, were unable to produce receipt vouchers according to the 2015/2016 Auditor General’s report.

Mr Avedzi, who was not happy about the conduct of the two government officials, asked that they be whisked away to Parliament Police Station for their caution statements to be taken.

He said their statements would be used against them in the law court because the two connived to deceive the Committee.

They could not and said they could come back and produce them. They showed up on Monday with the vouchers but the Committee said they were not valid. Only one was valid.

Then the chairman asked that they be taken away to the police station to go write their statements.
