One person has been confirmed dead while another remains missing after heavy rains triggered severe flooding in parts of the Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region.
The Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Karim Ndego, confirmed that two individuals were swept away by floodwaters during the downpour.
According to him, 52-year-old Joseph Dwamena Boateng drowned in the Boinso River, while another victim, identified only as G-Boy, is still missing.
Mr. Ndego said search and rescue operations are ongoing, but efforts have been challenged by rising water levels and logistical constraints.
The flooding has also displaced more than 4,000 residents across affected communities in the municipality, with the number expected to increase as water levels continue to rise.

Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage while providing support to affected residents.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Enchi, led by Rev. Father ADO3 Emmanuel Kwaku Yeboah, has urged residents to exercise caution during the rainy season.
The Service advised the public to avoid crossing flooded rivers and streams and to strictly adhere to safety measures to prevent further loss of life and property.
Emergency officials continue to monitor the situation as efforts are intensified to locate the missing person and assist affected communities.
