Imagine these two opposing forces coming together.

Imagine all the potential battles- of wit, ethics and good behaviour, of responsibility and morality, against cunning, patronage, subterfuge and continuous criminal behaviour.

Omanbapa will be all of these and more.

Omanbapa is an initiative of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE). It forms part of execution of the Commission’s mandate, which includes ‘to formulate, implement and oversee programmes intended to inculcate in the citizens of Ghana, awareness of their civic responsibilities and an appreciation of their rights and obligations as free people…’

Two very accomplished Ghanaian actors, Adjetey Anang (Pusher) and Mikki Osei Berko (Mr Richard) face off in this drama series, as they tango over the hearts, minds and souls of the people.

The star studded cast also include Priscilla Opoku Agyeman (Ahuof3Patri), Bibi Bright, Fiifi Coleman and the evergreen Oscar Provencal. There are some very interesting debutantes on show as well.

Omanbapa, a 45min drama series, will be on TV, Radio and the internet. The TV version will air every Sunday starting October 20, at 8pm on Joy Prime. You can find premiere episode on KenteTV (https://kentetv.com/).

According to Madam Kathleen Addy, Deputy Chairman of NCCE, the Commission is particularly excited about this new venture because “we recognise the power of media in shaping the minds of those who consume its content.

There is ample research evidence that demonstrates the effects of media on behaviour of people, so NCCE is developing new programmes designed to take advantage of multiple media channels available to citizens today. Through these programmes we hope to; model appropriate behaviour; examine the wrongs in our society and how to fix them; stimulate public discourse on social trends and inspire a heightened sense of patriotism among citizens.”

Omanbapa is a creation of inGenius Africa, the prolific Ghanaian production firm, which has been involved in hits like Taxi Driver, Sun City, Sunshine Avenue and Solutions.

The premiere which was held at a packed Accra City Hall on the evening of 4th October received great reviews. The viewing was preceded by a series of activities during the day, which included a flash mob at Tudu in the heart of Accra, Human billboards, live streaming on social media, an art exhibition and others, all engendering patriotism.

Be on the lookout for this blockbuster.
