Veteran highlife musician Ofori Amponsah has called for compassion and medical attention for fellow musician Barosky following his recent ordeal in the United Kingdom.
Barosky, who became homeless and stranded in Manchester, was repatriated to Ghana in September 2026 with government assistance.
Speaking on Hitz FM, Ofori Amponsah said the focus should now be on helping Barosky rather than revisiting disagreements or blaming individuals for his situation.
“What I think we need to do for Barosky is to show him closeness because I think he’s going through something and needs medical attention. He needs our prayer. He needs our support because probably he’s going through something,” he said.
According to Ofori Amponsah, Barosky may have been dealing with difficulties long before his recent experience in the UK, suggesting that the situation requires more than financial assistance.
The two musicians have a history dating back to the mid-2000s. Ofori Amponsah met Barosky in 2004 and recorded some hit songs before Barosky left his camp while pursuing plans to release his own album.
He explained that, at the time, he had advised Barosky to spend more time building his name through features before releasing a solo project, but the two eventually went their separate ways.
Ofori Amponsah, however, said the long separation means it would be unfair to place responsibility for Barosky’s current circumstances entirely on him.
He also dismissed the idea that simply giving Barosky money would resolve the situation, stressing that what the musician needs goes beyond a one-off financial intervention.
For Ofori Amponsah, the immediate priority should be getting Barosky professional help.
