Chief Executive Officer of the University of Ghana Medical Centre has revealed that three COVID-19 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with eight others being taken through regular hospital management at the facility.

He said they were part of the pool of those who tested positive and were in mandatory quarantine.

Dr Darious Osei told journalists the facility has the capacity to manage patients while health workers remain committed to helping combat the disease.

He has also urged Ghanaians to avoid stigmatising persons with the disease and their families.

He lauded his nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers at the facility for giving off their best in the battle against the unseen enemy, Covid-19.

Currently, the Greater Accra region has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases. As of  Wednesday, April 22, the country’s case count stood at 1,154, with 120 recoveries and nine deaths.

Regions that have reported cases include the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Volta, Upper East, Upper West, Central, Western, and North East regions.
