Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency in Ashanti Region, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, says the achievements of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) government have put fear in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2020 polls.

To Mr Aboagye, the NDC underestimated the current government’s competence to deliver every campaign promise made in 2016 and is surprised at the delivery.

“Talk is cheap, the NDC is trying to manipulate Ghanaians into believing that we are not doing anything but the figures are showing for themselves or can the figures manufacture itself?” he quizzed.

“The NDC is panicking because we said it and we are delivering. We are not saying we’ve perfectly completed all our policy initiatives but we have done very well as compared to them,” he said in an interview on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

He recounted their experience at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting and how the government was commended for a good work done so far.

“When we went to the IMF meeting in Washington DC they were telling us to tell the Ghana story how we could implement so many policies in three years of governance. We restored the nurse’s allowance, free senior high school, banking sector, energy sector, reduction in taxes, inflation rate while having major issues to address,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians not to forget the hardship Mahama’s government put them through and testify to the improvement in their livelihood now.

“We understand that Ghanaians are complaining but they shouldn’t forget we are in a better place as a country than before,” Mr Aboagye added.
