One of the contenders for the secretary position of the Ashanti Regional branch of the New patriotic Party (NPP) has backed out of the contest.
Kwaku Atta Sarpong cited personal concerns as the reasons why he chose not to contest for the position.

The decision means that incumbent secretary, Sam Pyne, is the sole contender for the position.
