Ningo-Prampram District Assembly has threatened to demolish any house or structure built by real estate companies and individuals on lands demarcated for wind farm project.

The Assembly said apart from vegetable farming no other activity can take place on demarcated land around Dawa and Tsopoli due to the nature of the project.

According to Coordinating Director of Ningo-Prampram District Assembly, Matthew Tay, some estate companies are selling such lands to unsuspecting buyers.

In an interview with Adom News, he said the wind farm will produce electricity to help stabilize Ghana’s power sector.

Meanwhile, Project Manager for N.A. K Ghana, Michael Adu Yeboah is hopeful that the wind farm project will be completed within 18 months when started.

According to him, Ghana will enjoy 30 years of electricity supply from the project.

Test for this project started in 1998 as it is expected to generate 10% of the country’s energy needs over the period and create jobs for the local folks.

Creating of access roads and face-lifting of schools are also taking place within affected communities before the project commences.

The issue of compensation was however not missing as affected persons will be compensated.
