The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has thrown his support behind the upcoming National Youth Conference being organised by the National Youth Authority (NYA).
This follows a courtesy visit by the NYA Chief Executive Officer, Osman Ayariga, on Friday, August 7, to brief the revered Islamic leader on preparations for the national event and seek his counsel and blessings.
Mr Ayariga said the conference is expected to provide an inclusive platform for young people and key stakeholders to discuss issues affecting youth development while promoting national cohesion, leadership and active citizenship.
He noted that the support and guidance of religious leaders are important in shaping conversations that encourage responsible behaviour and positive values among young people.
The National Chief Imam welcomed the initiative and encouraged the NYA to continue working with faith-based organisations and other partners to empower young people to become responsible, patriotic and productive citizens.
