According to them, many residents channel waste water from their homes into a drain along the road, leading to the main drain being choked.

As a result, water stagnates in the drain, giving out a very unpleasant smell that greets residents and users of the Darkuman-Dansoman Junction.
More than ten traders informed Adom News Reporter, Kofi Nkansah, that they had complained to the Assembly man and MP of the area, as well as the AMA but nothing has been done to stop the situation which poses a major health hazard to residents in the area.
Some drivers also say the actions of the people have caused the road to deteriorate and could lead to accidents in the area.

Indeed, drivers at Darkuman taxi rank also said that they had already recorded a number of accidents recently as a result of some motorists veering off a section of the outer lane to avoid the odour emanating from the drain.
The situation is made even worse as food vendors operate very close to the smell.
A fried rice seller, who only gave his name as Ben, admitted to Adom News that he himself is one of those who pour waste water into the gutter which results in the stagnation and the bad odour.
