George Andah

Deputy Minister for Communications, George Andah, has shared fond memories of his encounter with late Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed.

He described him as a very hardworking and dedicated police officer who ensured law and order in the area.

Mr Andah said his first encounter with the late Awal was when he was involved in an accident on November 3, 2019, at Awuku Loye in the Central region.

The Deputy Communications Minister who is also a Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West constituency was returning from a social function when the incident occurred.

He said the late police officer with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service at Kasoa was a “humble professional dedicated to his work”.

Hon Andah recalled how he would check on him at the 37 Military Hospital while he was on admission as they investigated his case.

Even when he willingly offered him money as transportation, he said the Lance Corporal will refuse, insisting that he was just doing his work.

He condemned the dastardly act of the suspects and called for prompt prosecution to bring some respite to the family.

George Andah commiserated with the family adding that his death was a big blow to the Ghana Police Service, especially in the Central region.
