Multimedia journalist, Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, was awarded for his efforts in campaigning against filth and ensuring environmental sustainability at the just ended Africa Clean-up Conference 2019.

The 2018 Ghana Journalists Association Best Journalist on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene has carved a niche for himself when it comes to issues of sanitation and hygiene.

In all, 32 people and organisations, selected across the continent of Africa, were awarded at the event for their diverse roles in campaigning for environmental sustainability to enhance economic growth.

The event was the 4th edition themed: Transformation for Sustainable Development: Promoting Environmental Sustainability in Africa.

Organisers of the awards, African Clean-up Initiative (ACI) said the rationale was to provide a platform for Africans to change the African narrative and set a roadmap for the grassroots people for national development.

Multimedia journalist, Amos Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa Kwofie, after receiving the award expressed delight for the recognition and honour done him.

According to him, the award has given him additional responsibility to ensure that he sustains the campaign for clean and hygienic environment.

He used the opportunity to call on all and sundry to be responsible to the environment since sanitation is a shared responsibility.

Convener of the ACI, Alex Akhigbeto told Adom News the time had come for the spotlight to be put on environmental and social issues in Africa and make localised solutions available.

He added that ACI will continue to help address present challenges, proffer practical solutions for application in African countries and provide platform for local people to take control of their own lives.
