Deputy Information Minister, Pius Hadzide says Kwame Owusu’s excellent track record at the Ghana Maritime Authority warranted him the appointment as the new Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

To Hon Hadzide, the President took a good decision and there was no doubt Mr Owusu would perform.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, monitored by Adomonline.com, Hon Hadzide said Mr Owusu’s track record at the Ghana Maritime Authority is evident for all to see.

“If you go and check the track record of the gentleman in question, during his time at the Ghana Maritime Authority, his track record was quite impressive and the facts speak for themselves.” he said

Hon Hadzide added that Mr Owusu turned round the fortunes of the Ghana Maritime Authority during his tenure.

“In 2016, that organisation was making loses, revenue was about some GH¢64 million and their expenditure was about GH¢72 million. When Mr Owusu assumed office in 2017, they made a revenue of GH¢99 million and expended GH¢66 million thereabout. The organisation was turned around into a profit-making organisation,” he added.

President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed Mr Owusu, who resigned as the Managing Director of the Ghana Maritime Authority, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GRA in a letter dated June 2019.
