Melcom Limited has confirmed that a fire broke out at one of its warehouse facilities in the Tema Free Zones Area, assuring the public that no casualties or injuries were recorded.

The blaze, which occurred on Saturday, July 4, prompted a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service, with firefighters working to bring the fire under control. Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Police Service and other emergency responders also joined efforts at the scene.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 5, Melcom said the safety of its employees, partners and surrounding communities remained its top priority.

“We are deeply thankful that there were no casualties or injuries resulting from the incident,” the company stated.

Melcom expressed appreciation to the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO, the Ghana Police Service and other emergency personnel for their prompt response and professionalism in containing the fire.

The company said its management is collaborating with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire while conducting an internal assessment to determine the extent of the damage.

“Our management team is collaborating with the relevant authorities as they assess the incident and establish its cause. We are also conducting an internal assessment of the damage and implementing the necessary measures to secure the facility,” the statement said.

Although the fire has significantly affected the warehouse, Melcom assured customers that it is working to restore operations as quickly as possible to minimise disruptions.

The company said it would make every effort to ensure the continued availability of stock to serve customers despite the setback.

Melcom also thanked its employees, customers, business partners, stakeholders and members of the public for their concern and messages of support following the incident.
