According to Hassan Ayariga, the citizen vigilante is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a card bearing member for that matter and therefore is totally unqualified to hold such a position.
“Amidu is not fit for the job; he is totally disqualified because a member of a political party will not be independent, looking at how sensitive the position is because I know an ISP must be non-partisan but Amidu is not” he said on Accra based radio, Okay FM.

President Nana Akufo -Addo has nominated Mr. Martin Amidu as Ghana’s first Special Prosecutor pending parliamentary approval.
The President made the announcement on Thursday in a short ceremony at the Flagstaff House in Accra but Mr Ayariga believes the defiant nature of the nominee is not a requirement for such an office.
He said Mr Amidu’s status has been reduced because he will be working under the Attorney General which he believes should not be the case.

“Ayariga has been reduced per his status as he will be working under the AG; he should find something better to do and stop reducing his status. He is just not fit for the job” he maintained.
